Supported causes: Mark Bustin's marathon run for the Sailor's Society

Marathon for the Sailor's Society by Mark Bustin

Mark Bustin Hello everyone! Well it seems a long time since I felt the excitement of receiving the email from the Sailors Society offering me a place in their charity team for the London Marathon; I wanted to run for the Sailors Society as they do a fantastic job providing practical help and welfare, spiritual support, financial assistance and family liaison. This support is provided for families of loved ones of the Merchant Navy lost in service and for our seafarers of today.

My Dad was in the Royal Navy and very proud of the job he did and often relayed amusing tales about his time spent overseas serving his country and his many good friends he made along the way.

Having never done any serious running before I started training less than 12 months ago with the aim to complete a half marathon and then retire! :-) I have now managed two half marathons and London will be my 1st full 26 miles!

I am so grateful to Wendy for taking the time to paint the legend that is Ian Brown, I think it’s a wonderful thing that she does. (She didn’t pay me to write this!)

My aim is to raise £1400 for the Sailors Society and the auctioning of Wendy’s painting will help me achieve this goal. To help me achieve this target please visit:-
